THE STUDENTS COLLECTED MONEY AMONGST THEMSELVES AND BOUGHT SWEETS FOR THE TEACHERS AND STAFF MEMBERS.
This is a special time of year in India. It’s similar to Christmas or Chinese New Year. There are celebrations for several days with lots of sweets, get togethers and fireworks. The teachers put on a great celebration for the whole school, starting with a play depicting the Ramayana so that they could better understand the history of Diwali. It was fantastic! All the teachers came together to put on a great show with a wonderful set, costumes, and music. Everyone enjoyed it.
Following the performance, there were two activities for the students to participate in – tie dying and rangoli. Some of the students worked together to make beautiful sand art while others made tie dyed turbans or dupattas. After that, we all sat together to enjoy and extravagant lunch also prepared by the teachers. It was a wonderful uplifting day.
