Some beautiful and heartwarming moments shared between students and teachers from MPA’s Diwali
While most schools celebrate the festival of lights, at MPA, Diwali holds a special place, as our boarding school students, MPA educators along with day-scholars and their families come together to make it feel like a home away from home. From the colourful décor to the delicious food and mithais, everything has a personal touch. It’s the students and teachers who spend time and effort making rangolis, food and beautiful memories to create a Diwali full of laughter amidst the warm glow of diyas. This celebration was not merely an event; it was a testament to Miri Piri Academy’s commitment to holistic education, ensuring that every festival is experienced with its multifaceted richness.
Honoring Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji and celebrating Bandi Chhor Divas
The day commenced with a soulful tribute to Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji and the observance of Bandi Chhor Divas. Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji, the sixth Sikh Guru, holds a significant place in Sikh history. He is renowned for embodying both spiritual and martial virtues, leading Sikhs towards a life of courage, righteousness, and compassion. Bandi Chhor Divas, or the Day of Liberation, is commemorated to mark Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji’s release from imprisonment. On this day, he secured the release of 52 kings unjustly held captive in the fort of Gwalior. The lighting of lamps symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness and the spirit of liberation.
Rangoli made by students
MPA students started the Diwali preparation with creating intricate rangoli designs. Rangoli fosters unity as students collaboratively decide on the design, colours and then sit together completing the designs. The rhythmic hand movements required for rangoli creation impart a meditative quality, instilling focus and mindfulness – something we truly value at MPA.
Handcrafted Diya Decorations
The dining hall looked bright and cheerful with handcrafted Diya decorations. These radiant symbols of Diwali were delicately crafted by the students and suspended from the ceiling, infusing the space with warmth and festivity. The spirit of Diwali enveloped every nook, kindling a sense of joy and togetherness.
Bhangra Beats: A Burst of Energy
The rhythmic beats of Bhangra echoed through the air as Grade 8/9 students presented a spirited Bhangra performance. Rooted in Punjabi folk traditions, Bhangra is an integral part of Miri Piri Academy’s celebrations, adding an energetic vibe to the festivities. The infectious music and vibrant dance uplifted the collective mood.
Games, fun and joy!
Diwali at Miri Piri Academy extended beyond decorations and performances. The entire school community engaged in festive games that not only fostered unity but also brought out the playful spirit of Diwali. Laughter echoed through the corridors as students and teachers alike participated, strengthening the sense of community.
A Grand Feast Prepared by Teachers
The aroma of delicious snacks wafted through Miri Piri Academy as teachers took on the role of chefs, preparing a sumptuous meal for everyone. It’s the personal involvement by the teachers and staff that create an atmosphere of belonging for everyone. We believe that it’s these little things that enrich an experience. The love and care that teachers put into activities that are even beyond any curriculum shows their dedication and commitment towards the ethos of MPA.
Sweet Endings: Handing Out Joy and Gratitude
As the day drew to a close, sweetness filled the air – both in the form of delectable sweets and heartfelt cards. Teachers distributed handmade cards and sweets to the students. In return, students reciprocated the gesture, crafting cards for the faculty and staff.
The Diwali celebration at Miri Piri Academy felt like a harmonious symphony of traditions, unity, and joy. Beyond the vibrant decorations and spirited performances, the essence of Diwali was woven into the fabric of the academy’s ethos – a commitment to holistic education and the pursuit of knowledge that transcends textbooks.
A Happy Diwali and a wonderful new year to you from Miri Piri Academy!
