Residential Programme

Community and connection permeates life at MPA.

Community is created on campus through shared housing, meals and everyday activities. Students with the help of staff support each other in their well-being, academics and extracurricular activities.
MPA provides a beautiful and secure environment where students can learn, feel at home, study, socialize and expand.
Three vegetarian meals and a snack are prepared each day, based mostly on traditional Punjabi fare. Some international dishes are incorporated into the weekly schedule to provide a sense of home to our students. 3HO favourites, like Yogi Tea and Golden Milk are served according to the season.

Residential
Life

At Miri Piri Academy most students arrive with phones, laptops, tablets or video games in tow. While navigating the online digital world is an important modern skill that every child must learn, of equal importance is the ability to balance that digital world with a connection to the living, breathing world around us. All students give their electronics to staff and check them out at allowed times in the evening and on weekends.

Students participate regularly in seva and meditation at the Harimandir Sahib (Golden Temple). MPA is grateful to be located so close to the Golden Temple which allows us to participate regularly with the sangat in devotional practices.

Life at MPA includes participation in Punjabi culture through visits to historical gurdwaras and participation in local festivals.

MPA provides a nurturing and expansive experience for all of our students. This includes implementing strong frameworks and standards around Child Safeguarding Practices. We categorically stand for the rights of children to live a life of dignity and respect and to be free of all forms of abuse and ill-treatment including bullying, neglect, physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, and commercial exploitation. To ensure the physical safety and security of our students, a professional security firm provides 24-hour surveillance of our campus grounds and facilities and conducts thorough screenings for all school visitors. For off-campus outings, students travel in groups with a designated and trained group leader and carry identification cards with the telephone numbers of school personnel who can assist them at any time. The school maintains connections with the local police, intelligence agencies, and the US embassy to ensure the safety of our students at all times and in all places.

MPA is committed to the health and safety of our students. Treatment for minor illnesses and first aid are given immediately onsite. For more serious medical issues, the school has relationships with many wonderful doctors in Amritsar. In case of an emergency, the patient can reach the hospital in 30 minutes maximum, depending on the time of day and traffic. Students also have access to dental care, an optometrist, homeopathic doctors and other specialists. The medical coordinator keeps all parents informed of their children’s health issues and ensures that students follow the recommendations of the doctor.
