After an eventful summer, we’re back at Miri Piri Academy. It feels to me like we’re picking up right where we left off; getting right back into the swing of things, playing sports, meditating, dipping at the Golden Temple.
We’re of course missing our students who have moved on this year, but we’re looking forward to getting to know all the shining new faces that are beginning their journey at MPA.
The students have been arriving over the past three days and are taking time to unpack, catch up with friends and acclimatize to the weather. It’s not as hot as it can be but it is hot and humid nonetheless. This becomes especially obvious during sports time, when everyone’s t-shirts become drenched in sweat.
Meditating just prior to Monday’s Eclipse
In the evenings, we’ve been meditating together; doing a special meditation on Monday to balance the energies of the eclipse.
First Visit to the Golden Temple
This morning, we visited the Golden Temple for the first time this year. It was a great day to bow and dip in the warm waters of the sarovar. For some this was their first time to the Golden Temple, a place that will soon feel like home.
We’re off to Anandpur Sahib tomorrow for our initiation trip. Together we’ll have four days of meditation, PT, yoga, gatka, wrestling, hiking, seva, trips to local gurdwaras and plenty of langar. It’s our time-tested way of starting the year off right; giving us a chance to get to know each other, get to know Anandpur Sahib and for the new students, a chance to get to know what the year has in store.
