The General Knowledge Bowl was held this weekend. In this jeopardy-inspired competition, the houses compete to see which house can earn the most points answering questions from a range of categories such as sports, logic, life sciences, maths, and of course MPA trivia.
The competition had five rounds. In rounds one and three, the squads competed to see who could answer questions worth 100, 200, 300, 400, or 500 points. In round two, each squad put forth a contestant to see who could answer the most true/false questions in one minute. Round four was a contest to see which house could sing four consecutive lines from a chosen song from the movie “Frozen.” And in the final round, the houses competed to see who could answer the following logic question:
Albert and Bernard just became friends with Cheryl, and they want to know when her birthday is. Cheryl gives them a list of 10 possible dates.
May 15, May 16, May 19, June 17, June 18, July 14, July 16, August 14, August 15, August 17
Cheryl then tells Albert and Bernard separately the month and the day of her birthday respectively.
Albert: I don’t know when Cheryl’s birthday is, but I know that Bernard does not know too.
Bernard: At first I don’t know when Cheryl’s birthday is, but I know now.
Albert: Then I also know when Cheryl’s birthday is.
When is Cheryl’s birthday? (See answer below)
All of the houses did a good job answering the trivia questions. In the end, Gold House won the competition, followed by Silver, White and Blue Houses.
