Today our seventh grade students had an interesting lesson on the basketball court. The subject of the class was Ratio and Fractions and the purpose of having the class at the basketball court was that the students could get the chance to apply their knowledge to something that is a fun daily activity, a sport they all like to play.
Each one of the students attempted to throw the ball into the basket ten times in total. After they completed their ten chances, they would count how many times they scored and take that as the upper part of the fraction. Ratio is similar as it is the relationship between two numbers of the same kind. The students had fun while their teacher explained those basic concepts in a really dynamic interaction.
