Celebrating Teacher’s Day and Skit Competition

We recently celebrated Teacher’s Day with a wonderful presentation of the students’ shows for the Skit Competition.

Previous to the presentation, Ambroise Centelles, a student from 12th Grade, shared this beautiful poem which was perfect for the occasion:

A Teacher for All Seasons
A teacher is like Spring,
Who nurtures new green sprouts,
Encourages and leads them,
Whenever they have doubts.
A teacher is like Summer,
Whose sunny temperament
Makes studying a pleasure,
Preventing discontent.
A teacher is like Fall,
With methods crisp and clear,
Lessons of bright colors
And a happy atmosphere.
A teacher is like Winter,
While it’s snowing hard outside,
Keeping students comfortable,
As a warm and helpful guide.
Teacher, you do all these things,
With a pleasant attitude;
You’re a teacher for all seasons,
And you have my gratitude!

Right after that, the students gave each teacher who serves at MPA a really sweet gift, which was a box of treats containing delicious chocolate bread, cookies and muffins. Something to express their appreciation for everything that they do for them so they can constantly grow and evolve, and to acknowledge their unique way of teaching them with so much love, patience and kindness.

Kirandeep Kaur, the School Principal was honored with a flower-bouquet, which made her smile in such a way that she spread happiness all around her.

The teachers were truly grateful, as they were excited to see the kids wearing their costumes and ready to play for all of us.

And the show began.

The Gold House was the first one to go on stage.

They interpreted the Power Rangers. It was an active performance, which showed the strength you gained after you followed certain training with discipline and commitment, the importance of supporting each other as a team, and the fearlessness you must have to face any challenge. As they fought against the bad guys who were trying to take them under their control and even thought they strive to keep up, at the end they proved to themselves that the courage you bring to life is what would take you further.

They got the third place in the competition.

And the outstanding actors were Ram Ravi and Konrad.

The second show was SpongeBob SquarePants played by the White House.

If you are familiar with the cartoon, or well your kids are, then you might know the importance of finding out about the secret recipe and their show was about how to work together as a team to get experience and knowledge out of it, and how to keep an energetic and optimistic approach during the process to maintain the fun and to develop a strong friendship.

They got the fourth place in the competition.

And the best actor was Alexey for Intermediate boy.

The third show of the day was from the Silver House, who interpreted a parody of The Simpsons.

It was a brilliant performance, as if the famous characters were here for real, cause the students were all covered in yellow and so tune in with their specific roles. The show was about Bart coming to MPA, going into a deep transformational process and how it is possible for someone like him to change and evolve, cause the program here really works!

They won the second prize in the competition.

And the outstanding actors were Ash and Siri Avtar.

Best Actress for Senior Girl was Mieke.

Last but certainly not least, was the show by the Blue House, Avatar: The Last Airbender , which included a terrific interpretation of one of the students playing as Amrit Singh in a really respectful yet funny way which we all, including himself, enjoyed.

They were the winners! They worked really hard in having some extra visual elements and keeping the audience entertained for a long time. They combined the famous cartoon with the main characters of the actual movie, which add some good sense of humor to the play. And then they went through each element, water, fire, earth and air, to show the benefits of learning how to focus and keep a steady practice, like physical training and meditation, to have control over your thoughts and be in balance with your body, mind and soul. It also showed that if you want to be a leader you first have to get the work done within yourself.

The outstanding actors were Anhad, Ambroise, Shiv Antar, Sat Darshan and Emma.

Best Actor for Senior boy was Hans and Best Actress for Intermediate girl was Sarabjot.

We all had such a good time!! We got the chance to see how talented the kids are.

With encouragement and dedication they can create amazing things.
