Message from MPA

Sat Nam Japjeet Kaur,

For the first time ever, MPA is opening its doors to day school students from the Amritsar area. Applications will be open for the 2023 school year on November 15th for students in grades 5-9. The day school program will follow a Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) curriculum, while incorporating the teachings of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan, and Sikh philosophy and lifestyle. You can find the application page and more information on our website in the coming weeks.

As part of the upcoming Giving Tuesday fundraising campaign for nonprofits, we invite you to help MPA alum attend our Alumni Gathering in December. In order to decrease barriers to participation, we made this 10-day event $108 USD. Your donation will go directly towards the program costs and will help alumni reconnect with some of the most valuable parts of their education at MPA: seva, yoga, immersion in India, and connection with dharmic friends. Learn more about our Giving Tuesday campaign here.

Lastly, we want to thank you for taking the time to participate in our survey about potential courses for adults at Miri Piri Academy. We are pleased to know that our community is interested both in on campus and online courses. The results also indicated a strong desire to learn about and connect to sacred sites in Amritsar and India. We will take the information gathered back to the MPA team to discuss potential possibilities. We appreciate your continued support and interest in MPA and look forward to bringing new opportunities to you in the future.Blessings,Japjeet Kaur Khalsa, Head of School

BLOG POST: Making friends in England at the XP school

Our MPA team Kirandeep Kaur, Japjeet Kaur and Prem Kaur, spent five days at the XP School in England to learn how to enhance MPA’s curriculum and student experience.

“If I were to sum up what XP meant to me, I would say it was all about Community, Culture and Caring. It was one of the most inspiring school visits I have ever experienced.” – Kirandeep Kaur, MPA Principal

Meet Jonne, MPA Alumni (2018/2019)

“At MPA I have gone through a major life change. Because of the exercise we did everyday and the food we ate I became physically healthy. The meditations and yoga we daily practiced helped heal my mind and balance my emotions. I learned how to structure my day, what things to focus on and how to keep a balance in life. I am now able to set goals and reach them!”

“Besides living life as a Sikh, I also learned a lot about Hinduism in Rishikesh and Buddhism in Dharamshala. India is a country full of very diverse people and traditions and it’s a great experience to get to know them. I would recommend MPA because of the strong friendships you make with the other students. I am still in contact with many friends and enjoy the strong bond MPA has created for them and me!”

Chardi Kala Jatha at Harmandir SahibLast month, the Chardi Kala Jatha was honoured to play their classical Gurbani Kirtan in traditional raag at the Harmandir Sahib. Doing this seva at the Golden Temple is a great blessing. Check out some photos below!

FREE WEBINAR: The meaning of Miri Piri

During their lifetimes, the Sikh Gurus personified the ideal state that human beings could aspire to. Guru Hargobind famously wore two swords during his lifetime: one that represented spiritual authority and another that represented earthly sovereignty. We know this concept as “Miri Piri.”

You’re invited to learn more about the meaning of Miri Piri from one of the Sikh community’s most respected scholars, Dr. Balkar Singh, in a free webinar on November 6 at 11:30 a.m. IST.
