Miri Piri Academy students have the opportunity to experience the rich culture of India, and even to travel abroad during their time at the school. Throughout the year our spiritual life program takes the students to a variety of locations in Punjab, such as Anandpur Sahib and Goindwal. In addition, students participate in annual travel programs that include:
Hemkunt Sahib
School years often commence with a very popular trip to Hemkunt Sahib, a Gurdwara in the Himalayas that is located in the spectacular setting of a glacial lake surrounded by seven peaks. The trip is a three day hike, complete with small glacial crossings and load-bearing mules and donkeys.
Winter and Spring Break
During our annual Winter Break, we visit one or two towns in North India. Our previous destinations have included Delhi, Shimla, Chandigarh, Rajastan, and Dharamsala, the home of the 14th Dalai Lama. For the Spring Break, we have traditionally traveled to Rishikesh, a beautiful town at the foothills of the Himalayas that is close to the source of the legendary River Ganges.
Senior Class Trip
Our twelfth grade students travel each year to countries such as Singapore, Malaysia and Australia to take part as teachers in youth camps set up in those countries. Students have the opportunity to inspire, teach, and have fun with children from all over Southeast Asia at these camps, and of course, they also take a few days off to relax and see the sights. The location of these trips varies each year. |
