‘Yoga’ means union. The practice of Kundalini Yoga, as taught by Yogi Bhajan, is aimed at union with the divine through stimulation of the Kundalini energy that resides in everyone.
Kundalini Yoga is much more than a system of physical exercise. It is a dynamic, powerful tool for expanding awareness. Students gain a sense of self-control, enhanced peace of mind, better concentration, and a deep sense of self-confidence.
Kundalini Yoga at Miri Piri Academy
The study of Kundalini Yoga is an integral part of the academic program. Until tenth grade, students participate in Siri Singh Sahib Studies classes in which they learn the fundamentals of the Yogic lifestyle.
In the 11th and 12th grade, students participate in Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training courses and all students graduate as Level 2 IKYTA Certified Kundalini Yoga Teachers.
Regular practice includes:
- Four weekly Yoga classes taught by residential staff, peers, and/or experienced visiting teachers.
- Daily optional morning Sadhana that includes Kundalini Yoga and meditation.
- Annual 40-day mandatory Sadhana, with a particularly challenging set of exercises and meditation.
The practice of Kundalini Yoga is not limited to the scheduled programs. Students are strongly encouraged and guided to choose and maintain a personal practice. To that end, we provide for and promote regular visits to the school by some of the most highly accomplished teachers from around the world.
