Anuradha Arora- Mathematics- 3 to 6; English - 3, 6

AnuradhaAt the present I am teaching math to the intermediates here at MPA. I am a commerce graduate, and received my masters from Punjab Agriculture University.  I have a diploma in computers as well.  I have been a part of the English Teachers Training program from the British council.  I taught three years at Spring Dale Senior School, one of the esteemed institutes in Amritsar.  Afterwards, I joined MPA in December 2005 as an ESL teacher.  I look forward to this new academic year and making a difference in my students’ lives.

 

Arvind Goldi- Social Studies- 3 to 7

ArvindI have been working at MPA since August 2004.  I have both a B.A  and a B.Ed. and I've done my high school and teacher training from Loyola School and College.  Until the last academic year, I was teaching social studies to grades 5 through 8, but for this year I'll be teaching grades 3 through 7.  Prior to MPA I taught at other schools in Amritsar as an English and social studies teacher.  Altogether I have seven years of teaching experience. I look forward to teaching the students this year.

 

Baljinder Singh - Gurbani Kirtan - 3 to 12

Baljinder Singh has been teaching at Miri Piri Academy for four years. He holds a diploma in Sangeet Visharad from Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh, a Government recognized institution, and has been studying with Ustaad Narinder Singh Sandhu for more then 15 years. An accomplished musician, he has played Gurbani Kirtan for Gurdwara’s around the Punjab. The students follow a specialized curriculum that allows them to take an external examination for Certification and eventually a Diploma from the Pracheen Kala Kendra institute.

 

Gurinder Singh- Art - 3 to 12

Gurinder SinghI have been working as an Art teacher at Miri Piri Academy for the last 4 years.  I have a master degree in Food Science, and I am doing a Ph.d. in the same subject.  My job here is to teach and organize the schedule for art in regular and evening classes.  I am running my own Art agency named L’atelier the Art since 1993. I am a member of the Indian Academy of Fine Art, Amritsar and participated in a large number of workshops, seminars and exhibitions.  The students here are very talented and creative, and my wish and aim is to guide them to be leaders, global citizens and better artists in coming years.

 

Gagandeep Kaur- Art Teacher – 3 to 12

Gagandeep Kaur works with Gurinder Singh to organize and teach art to all grades. She has Bachelors of Fine Art and has ten years experience in teaching art. She is a professional artist as well, and her work has been selected in national and state level art exhibitions.

 

Gagandeep Kaur- Punjabi - 3 to 6, 9 to 12

My qualifications are an M.A. (post graduation in English), and a B.Ed.  I have been working at MPA for the last two years, and so far my experience with the children has been fabulous and growing better day by day.  For me, this academy is the best of its kind, as it not only polishes the academic side of a student, but also the spiritual side.  Healthy and ample opportunities are imparted to help the student to grow more positive in life.  I have great love & respect for this remarkable & esteemed institution.

 

Gurmit Kaur- Science- 3 to 7

I have joined this institution in August 2001 and this is my 7th year here.  I have done my graduate degree in Botany(Hons) from Delhi University. After that I did my Post graduate diploma in Personnel management & Industrial relations.  I am happy to be returning to MPA to teach the students.

 

Harkamal Chugh- English-11, 12; Punjab History and Culture-9, 10

I teach English as well as Punjab History and Culture here at MPA.  I have a B.Sc (Med), B.Ed, M.A (Engl), and an M.Phil.(Anthropological Linguistics).  With my teaching experience of more than six years, I love to impart myself to others minds to help them build nations that make a difference. 

 

Harman Preet Sandhu- Social Studies 11,12

Satnam! I have joined Miri Piri Academy this year as a Social Studies teacher at the senior level. I have my Post Graduate Degree in English and also a diploma in French. This is my first year in school and I am looking forward to a pleasing and rewarding experience with such a multicultural group of students. 

 

Jugat Guru Singh, Director of Spiritual Education

- SSS studies, Yoga, Minister training

I have been teaching and working here at MPA for the past eleven years. I am a KRI certified Kundalini Yoga Teacher in Level 1 and several modules of Level 2. I am also a certified Teacher Trainer for both levels.

In my role as Director of Spiritual Education I set the curriculum and teach most of the Siri Singh Sahib Studies classes, as well as Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training for grades 11 and 12.

I was appointed a Minister of Sikh Dharma by the Siri Singh Sahib Yogi Bhajan the first year I came to teach here, and I conduct Sikh Dharma Minister's Training for all 11th grade students. These are the things my life is about!

 

Ms. Madhu - Librarian

My name is Ms. Madhu and I have been working as the Librarian at MPA for the past 6 years. My academic qualifications include a Masters in Economics, Political Science and Masters in Library & Information Science.   Our library now possesses over 3500 books on all subjects ranging from reference books, fiction, biographies, auto-biographies, encyclopedias and books on religion. This year the library has been given a new face lift with marble flooring, air-conditioning and a computer with internet facility. It is our endeavor to make the library a place where our students can research, do self study and extend their knowledge beyond the classroom curriculum.

 

Mamta Menon- Maths- grades 7 to 10

MamtaI have earned a bachelors degree in Math, physics and chemistry, and master’s degree in English.  I also have a diploma in computer programming and applications. I have 15 years teaching experience and I have been working at M.P.A for the last seven years.

I find M.P.A a very unique institution in every aspect.  I joined this institution to widen my horizons spiritually and to serve these students who will become great leaders and global citizens.

 

Parvinder- Dharmic Studies - 3 to 12

ParvinderI am the Gurmat teacher.  I am helping in reading Gurbani. I think for me being at MPA there is only one reason- to learn from the students who all come from different sides of the world.  Each and every time I learn while teaching them. This is really great when you learn from kids whose height is barely past your waist line!

 

Pooja Dhiman- Computers - 3 to 12

PoojaI have a post graduate diploma with a Masters in computer application and a Masters in business economics.  My working experience includes: computer lecturer for undergraduate classes at St. Bede’s College, Shimla and computer teacher at Chapslee School in Shimla for grades 7-12. My career objective is to work in an environment where I can learn, grow and make the best use of my skills.  At Miri Piri academy I feel I will achieve my objective.

 

Preet Grover – Biology – 9, 10, 12

I have done my Masters in Botanical Sciences and I also have a Bachelor’s in Education. I have recently joined Miri Piri Academy with seven and a half years of teaching experience in a previous institution.  Though I am new to MPA, I assure you that the students are in safe hands and I will try my level best to help them achieve academic excellence.

 

 

 

Rajbir Kaur- English- 9 to 11

I graduated with a B.A. in Economics, History, English, Q.T. and Computer Science.  I did my Masters in English and have four years of teaching experience in the English stream.   I have genuine interest in students, and I like to interact with different people.  MPA is the perfect opportunity for this.

 

Rupinder Kaur – Punjabi – 3-8, 11, 12

My qualifications are Masters in Punjabi and Bachelors of Education. I have taken on the challenge of teaching communicative Punjabi to the students and also inculcate love of the language in them.  I will be teaching beginners Punjabi to grades 4th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 11th and 12th, and it will be my endeavor to give them a strong base so they can move into the intermediate and advanced levels by next year.

 

Sarah Samuels- Social Studies - 8 to 10

I have a MA and a BA in education.  I am currently doing an M.Phil through a correspondence course from Shimla University.  My first teaching experience was at the Alexandra School in Amritsar.  I joined MPA in December of 2006 as a social studies teacher.

 

Sat Avtar Kaur- Business Teacher 11, 12, College counselor, and SAT prep


Wahe Guru Ji Ka Khalsa, Wahe Guru Ji Ki Fateh.
I went to MPA for 12 years, and I graduated from UCLA with a BA in Business Economics.  I will be teaching a business and life skills class to the 11th and 12th graders, as well as SAT prep during study hall.  I will also be the college and career counselor for the 12th graders to guide them in their decision making process and ease their transition out of MPA.  As a graduate of MPA, I recognize the unique challenges that our students face in applying to colleges.  I am looking forward to helping our students in this process.  I am glad we are continuing to build our support for students as they are graduating from MPA.

 

Sandeep Raj- Physics and Chemistry- 10 to 12

I have been working as a Science and Math teacher in the senior grades for the last seven years.  I have a Bachelor’s of Technology and a Post Graduate in Computers.  I enjoy working with the MPA students, and I know that collaboratively we can make this a very successful year.

 

Satinder- Math- grades 10, 11, 12

I have a Bachelors of Science, B.Ed, a Bachelor of Education from Guru Nanak Dev University, and a post graduate degree in plastics processing technology from the Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology.  It is a matter of great honor for me to teach here at MPA, where I have been teaching for the last nine years.

 

Simmi Bedi- Punjabi-7 to 10, 12

I have been here for the last 6 years. I did my Post- graduate in History from Guru Nanak Dev University in 2001. Previously, I did my B.Ed from Punjab University in 1999. At present I am doing M.Phil in History from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla.  I am excited to be imparting to the students our Punjabi language.

 

Smiti Sood- Science - 8, Physics and Chemistry - 9, Biology - 11

I have earned a B.Sc(Med) and a B.Ed.  I worked previously at DAV International School, Amritsar, and at Sophia Memorial School, Amritsar. I also worked at MPA as the Academic Secretary for three months in the year 2003.  This is my second teaching year at MPA, and I’m really looking forward to a great and fantastic future with all of the wonderful kids, who are constantly busy in exploring anything new. I am excited for the opportunity given to me by God to serve in this esteemed institution.

 

Sukhjit Kaur – English – 6 to 8

My qualifications are Masters in English and a Bachelor of Education. I have been working in this prestigious academy since last year.  I would like to make this academic year extremely productive and educative for all my students, and I will be incorporating many of the new teaching techniques that we have been practicing this summer.

 

Sukhwinder Singh – Tabla - 3 to 12

Sukhwinder Singh has been teaching at Miri Piri Academy for four years.
